Occasionally scarce migrant birds do turn up in really obscure places and this was no exception. Melodious Warblers are usually found on the South Coast in spring when overshooting their breeding grounds so a singing male on territory in the West Midlands was met with some incredularity. As I had not seen one in the UK, we dropped by on the way home from visiting family in the Northwest.
