White-tailed Plover. Slimbridge WWT. July 2010

This mega-rarity was first seen in 2010 at Seaforth Nature Reserve in May, and was relocated at Rainham Marshes after a long absence from public view. News of its disappearance from Rainham Marshes was soon greeted by Mega-Alerting pagers breaking news of its discovery at Slimbridge WWT. A few very long, slow hours at work passed by and eventually I joined the madness of Friday afternoon rush hour traffic to try to get to Slimbridge before the reserve closed. Fortunately I succeeded thanks to the wardens keeping the gates open longer than usual, and the resulting (poor) images are the result of this journey.
